Latest news on Woolston and Itchen Active Travel Zone

Last summer, we ran a survey inviting local residents in Woolston and Itchen to share their thoughts about the area and identify improvements to help reduce traffic; create more attractive, liveable streets; and enable people to get around more easily, safely and sustainably in their neighbourhood. An overall summary of the survey's findings is available on our website .

In January, 110 residents attended a mix of online and face-to-face co-design workshops. A total of eight workshops took place and provided an opportunity for residents to discuss potential solutions to the issues raised in the survey.

Discussions focused on 17 streets which generated the most feedback in the initial survey. These streets were split into four sectors (North West, North East, Central and South). You can use the links below to see a summary of the survey feedback for each street, grouped by sector:

Summary of survey feedback for NORTH WEST key locations (Bridge Road, Peartree Road and Peartree Avenue)

Summary of survey feedback for NORTH EAST key locations (Bishops Road, Radstock Road, Manor Road South and Porchester Road)

Summary of survey feedback for CENTRAL key locations (Portsmouth Road, John's Road, Inkerman Road, West Road and Obelisk Road)

Summary of survey feedback for SOUTH key locations (Victoria Road, Vosper Road, Weston Grove Road, Swift Road and Archery Road)

What's next?

During the co-design workshops, residents worked in small groups and came up with various ideas and suggestions to help tackle the key issues on each street. These ideas have been recorded and are now being assessed by our engineers, who will look at the feasibility of the suggestions made.

We will then develop a set of proposals which could be delivered across the area within the available budget. We will consult on these with the local community in the summer.
